A.M. Haidermota

Mr. Haidermota was a Senior Advocate of the Supreme Court of Pakistan and one of the most senior barristers practicing in Pakistan. When Bangladesh separated from Pakistan in 1971, Mr. Haidermota moved to Karachi from Dhaka and established the firm, Haidermota and Company (HMCO). In the years that followed, Mr. Haidermota, armed with his exceptional legal acumen and absolute dedication, took HMCO from strength to strength. With a view to realize his father's vision of elevating HMCO to Pakistan's top law firm, Mr. Haidermota's son, Khozem Haidermota, joined the firm in 1992 and extensively contributed to the growth of the firm's corporate practice. Before long, HMCO became and remains today one of the premier law firms in Pakistan.

The principles and values that HMCO is based on emanate from Mr. Haidermota. Mr. Haidermota laid the foundation of this firm on the core principle of "clients' interests first". His formula of in-depth knowledge of the law coupled with a solution oriented approach is adopted by every lawyer that has been and is part of our team.

The firm underwent the transformation from a family run practice into a proper institution under the leadership and guidance of Mr. Haidermota. HMCO took its first step in the international legal market in 2010 by setting up a foothold in Dubai, with the creation of Anjarwala, Collins and Haidermota (AC&H). Led by the indefatigable, accomplished and erudite Atiq Anjarwala, AC&H has created a name for itself in the ultra competitive Dubai legal market. In 2013, Mr. Haidermota conceived and presided over the merger of HMCO with Bhandari, Naqvi and Riaz, a reputed litigation firm based in Lahore. The merger created HaidermotaBNR&Co. The merger has been highly successful and resulted in us being able to provide more extensive services to our clients.

Motivated by the teachings of his religious leaders, Syedna Mufaddal Saifuddin (TUS); his father, the late Syedna Mohammad Burhanuddin (RA); and his grandfather the late Syedna Taher Saifuddin Saheb (RA), Mr. Haidermota strongly believed in giving back to society. He was deeply respected within the community for his services to Dawat-e-Hadiyah and actively participated in various charitable and social causes.

True to form, Mr. Haidermota was at work well in to his final days. He was an inspiration to all. He was an exceptional leader and a phenomenal teacher. He not only taught law to his partners and associates; he guided them in ethics and principles. For him, Law was not just a profession; it was about trust and honesty and obtaining justice.

Mr. Haidermota suffered a great personal tragedy with the passing of his wife, Mrs. Fatima Haidermota. Her death took a serious toll on him. Mr. Haidermota passed away on July 1, 2016.
